Ready to Try Keto – Here are some tips!

Whether you have been living the keto way of life for some time or you are just starting out, exploring your options, or interested in learning some more I have some tips that can make your keto transition easier. These are some things I wish I would have known when I started my own keto journey.

Eating a keto way of life means drastically cutting out carbohydrates and as a warning, this is not always the best solution for every person. It’s important to listen to your body and not force a way of eating that doesn’t feel natural and practical. Please consult your doctor or an expert to help you make the transition to a keto lifestyle if necessary.

So, here are the biggest things that I have learned along my journey with keto.

Number 1 – If you cut out carbohydrates you will need to drink more water. Think about it…carbo-“hydrate”. These foods help to hydrate the body and therefore when we cut back on the carbohydrates we eat; we need to ensure we still get the hydration out body needs. The second part of this tip is that you may also find that adding electrolytes to your increased water can make the difference between dealing with the keto flu or not!

Number 2 – One of the best parts of eating keto is getting to indulge in fat bombs. These treats are a great snack, but I caution you to rely on them daily! These are exactly the vices that can hold you back from reaching your keto goals!

Number 3 – We must remember that keto doesn’t mean only fat and protein. If you don’t eat your veggies you won’t get enough fiber and you’ll end up constipated.

Number 4 – Don’t try and do what works for others! Listen to your body and figure out what works for you!

Number 5 – More seeds…… fewer nuts. Trust me!

Number 6 – Take all the sugars and simple carbs right out of the house. No matter how strong you think your will power is, the struggle will be real!

Number 7 – Try your best to not overeat on protein. Protein can be turned into glucose in the body if you eat too much.

Number 8 – Don’t forget, calories still matter! You can still overeat while eating keto! The closer you get to your goal weight the more those calories will matter!

Number 9 – If you are craving sweets, concentrate on sour! Add some fermented foods and it will take the cravings for sugar away!

Number 10 – If you are trying to lose weight and you hit a plateau, consider trying intermittent fasting! It can be a powerful tool!
