Day Twenty-Two - Holiday Health Challenge

Get Domestic

Over the holiday season many of us get at least a few days off. How do you use that time?  Are you home? I suggest using a little of your down time to get your life organized for 2018!  Take the time to meal plan, unclutter the house and look at your schedule for the year.

  1. Plan 2018.  Commit to taking care of yourself this coming year.  I have gotten myself a fancy Day-Timer and have already put it to use booking time for myself.  I have booked in time for self care, to spend with my children and to even go on vacation!!  I haven’t planned where we will go but I know when we’ll go.  That’s the first step, right?  For a lot of us, if we don’t schedule the time, book the babysitters and make it a priority it’s not going to happen.  Why not put these in our schedules FIRST?  Myself, my family and our well-being should come before other things, shouldn’t they?
  2. Organize the House.  This sounds like a momentous task, but once the gifts are opened they will need to find a place.  To make space, maybe it’s time we let go of some of the other things in our lives.  When my children bring in new toys and books this next year I want them to have them donate something they have out grown to make room.  I’m going to hold myself to the same standard and it’s going to start when we’re done opening the gifts and put the new items away. Getting rid of clutter is a great stress reliever and living a minimalist life style is something I dream about!
  3. Food Preparation. If your house is anything like ours, there are eight eating Christmas dinner and enough food for twenty.  I have concluded that it’s just going to be that way.  BUT, let’s not let all that food and work go to waste!  Package that food up into mini meals and freeze for nights in January when you work late, when the children have activities, or when you don’t feel like cooking.  There are any number of scenarios when pulling out this frozen food can save the day.  This way you have a healthy meal to rely on when otherwise you’d be driving through a drive through.

I can’t believe we are SO close to Christmas!  Hopefully you will all keep up the amazing contributions to this daily blog over the break and up to the New Year!  I still have lots of fun to share with you for a healthy holiday season!!  Thanks for your presence!!
